Day 3: More tests (January 28, 2009)

Excerpts of SMS Messages from Dr. Vangee:

09:18 AM – “… Matatapos na workup. Pa-check hematologist and pedia pa” (trans: Workup id drawing to close.  Next checkup is with hematologist and pediatrician)

9:23 AM – “… Tapos na ultrasound. Baka maread this PM” (trans: Ultrasound procedure is done.  Good chances of a reading this afternoon)

4:39 PM – “My pedia doc friend went to Joy for free!  Salamat! Waiting for ultrasound report.”

Excerpts of my email to Joy’s friends:

I had the opportunity to pass by the RITM an hour ago.  Joy was already wearing her new crocs. …

Regarding Joy’s drawings, I already asked Vangee’s colleague, Dr. Co (a sweet lady of a doctor) if she could provide bond paper and some colored pencils for Joy and for her to take pictures of Joy making the doodles.  I just did not have time to pass by a bookstore due to back-to-back meetings in the area near RITM.  I’ll bring some on my next visit to Marinduque.

I was also pleasantly surprised about the placid atmosphere at the RITM.  Very stress-free, devoid of the usual human misery associated with hospitals.   It’s not like the regular government hospital with patients, caregivers, nurses, and what not buzzing around. Even the janitors were courteous.  The corridors were spanky clean, the halls were quiet, etc. “
