Day 2: Tests and Procedures (January 27, 2009)
Exerpts from Dr. Vangee’s email:
“Today, Joy underwent xray of the hands and feet, chest and abdomen…
… Biopsies were done ( four specimens were taken);
patient cried (much anxiety rather than pain) for a while but was able to sleep right after the procedure..
… Joy was given (medication my edit) to hopefully “calm” her as the meds is anxiolytic.
One specimen goes to Australia (my edit) early morning of Monday …
Laboratories are in… Need to find source of infection… We will give multivitamins with iron; high protein diet, milk.
Urinalysis done (my edit). Fecalysis will be done tomorrow.
KOH done – awaiting result. Will refer to Hematologist tomorrow.
Joy will be brought to another hospital (nearby) for ultrasound of the abdomen tomorrow.
The most touching part of Dr. Vangee’s email is:
For the first time (in the morning), we heard Joy’s voice. Because of the Croc’s slippers I gave, the resident insisted that Joy say something, she sweetly said: “Salamat” (tiny voice). Hope to hear her more soon.”
Note: the world “SALAMAT” means “THANK YOU”
